The development of geoeducation generates a link between people, landscapes, and their culture by recognising the geological potential around geosites conservation. Geosites have important scientific value constitute way generating learning tools for geoeducation. city Guayaquil, main port Ecuador, has valuable mining heritage, which been affected population growth its invasion protected areas, causing displacement animal species to point possible extinction. research aims assess in surroundings Gustavo Galindo campus, using Spanish Inventory Sites Geological Interest (IELIG, acronym) methodology promote geo-education context sustainability. methodological process includes (i) inventory initial selection (SGI) based on interviews with experts analysis primary data from sites; (ii) characterisation semi-quantitative assessment IELIG methodology; (iii) qualitative through SWOT formulate geotourism strategies. This emphasises importance promoting heritage an urban area. It shows attractions represented five SGI grouped into two types: geomorphological petrological. In general, are “High” category degree interest, ranging 170 236.67. addition, study identified lack natural values university campus. allowed proposal protection strategies (e.g., geoconservation plan ensuring that number visitors does not exceed maximum load capacity), geoscientific dissemination creating games, museums, itineraries, launching geoeducational souvenirs, or developing educational content augmented reality) detailed evaluating sites sustainable development.
